Erin Anastasia Murphy
Founder & Partner
Erin has 12+ years of experience working in both the private and nonprofit sectors, specializing in operational and knowledge management, community engagement and strategic learning.
Erin is Founder & Partner at Kito Global, a social enterprise consulting services firm partnering with mission driven INGOs. In a world fast becoming a post-sectoral marketplace where traditional sectors are being disrupted and new opportunities are emerging, Erin’s fresh take on the intersection of operations and knowledge management and Kito Global’s forward-leaning frameworks help INGOs rethink and transform their organizations. Erin has developed new approaches to INGO portfolio and project management, knowledge strategy, internal collaboration and strategic learning, making Kito Global a natural bridging partner and catalyst for innovative cross-sectoral collaboration.
From 2011 through 2017, Erin focused her work leading portfolio management for Pact Institute, the oldest subsidiary at Pact, a Washington DC-based INGO. In this role, Erin acted as key deputy to the Executive Director of Pact Institute. At Pact Institute, Erin designed an entirely new suite of programmatic and knowledge management tools to support the implementation of a new social enterprise business model with a growing and unique portfolio of both traditional and shared value development projects. Over the course of Erin's tenure at Pact Institute, the subsidiary grew 50% year-over-year for five straight years from $2.5M to over $20M in annual gross revenues and helped generate new substantial unrestricted income streams (see FSG Case Study). In 2016, Erin managed the effort to develop a five- year business plan for Pact Institute including launching a new thought leadership initiative. The latter included facilitating working groups to develop case studies to showcase the most innovative work housed within Pact Institute.
Before shifting to the INGO sector, Erin was the Director of Research at a for-profit social enterprise and think tank in Boston that focused on providing strategic services to cause-related non-profit organizations from 2009 through 2011.
Erin earned a bachelor’s degree in English & History from the University of Vermont where she graduated with honors. She also earned a Master of Science in Information and Knowledge Strategy from Columbia University in the City of New York where her capstone thesis redesigned information governance and internal collaboration for Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands.
